Curriculum

The curriculum foresees two one semester lectures (4 hours plus exercises) in Applied Mathematics, two one semester lectures (4 hours plus exercises) in Pure Mathematics, two one semester lectures (4 hours plus exercises) in the Major (an area of mathematics), and two one semester lectures (4 hours plus exercises) in the Minor (outside of mathematics, e.g., physics or computer science), and two seminars in mathematics. In addition, a master's thesis which takes about six months to complete is required in the major subject. Details can be found in the original Examination Regulations or its (unofficial) English translation.
These regulations leave every student room to adapt his/her course of study to his/her own priorities. Nevertheless, we will give some example curricula which the various research groups see as an ideal preparation for taking the major in their field.
