Reading Seminar: Optimal Transport and Applications (Wintersemester 2021/22)

In this reading seminar we want to explore the optimal transport problem, a variational problem with a long history that has led to numerous advancements in partial differential equations, probability, and applications. The goal is to cover the basic existence results and optimality conditions, Kantorovich duality, Brenier’s theorem, Wasserstein distances and gradient flows. Depending on the number of participants we will also look at some recent applications of optimal transport ideas and techniques.
